Privacy.
What happens when you visit this website. Which data it needs. And what you can control yourself.
The essentials first.
No visitor analytics
No advertising pixels, tracking profiles or embedded social feeds.
Learning stays with you
Saved items and progress stay in your browser. No account or cloud synchronisation.
Live via this server
Weather and radio data are fetched by the server. Your browser connects to HB3YAQ.ch for these features.

This website currently sets no cookies. Some features use local browser and session storage. Here you can control optional learning history and remove your saved data.
Remembers up to twelve articles and tools on this device. Off for new visitors. Switching it off stops new entries; existing entries can be cleared separately.
Saved items and passed course steps are stored when you use those features. Device selections apply to this tab only. This data is not sent to the server; selected models appear in the link when you open the comparison.
What your browser keeps.
Browser storage is not a cookie: these entries are not automatically sent to the server with every request. They belong to this browser profile and do not sync across your devices.
- Saved items & optional history
- Up to 100 saved topic paths, up to twelve recent topics and your history preference. No search terms, calculator values or timestamps. Retained until deleted.
hb3yaq:learning-library:v1 - Three learning paths
- Identifiers of completed steps. Retained until reset or deleted.
hb3yaq:first-signal:v1hb3yaq:first-antenna:v1hb3yaq:digital-setup:v1 - Device comparison
- Up to three model identifiers in session storage. Until cleared or the tab session ends; restoring tabs may also restore the session.
hb3yaq:comparison:v1 - Opening animation
- Remembers whether the intro has played in this tab session, without a personal identifier. Reduced motion or blocked session storage skips the animation.

You can remove all local entries using your browser’s website data controls, even without JavaScript. Files you downloaded yourself and browser history entries must be deleted separately.
Data processing in detail.
This version uses no analytics, advertising pixels, external font requests or embedded radio dashboards. Calculators run locally in your browser. There is no registration or contact form.
Learning progress
When you pass a knowledge check, the learning path stores completed steps locally in this browser (localStorage). This data is not transmitted to the server or used for analytics. You can reset it in the learning path overview. If storage is blocked, progress lasts only for the current visit; it is not automatically available on another device.
Saved items and recent topics
When you save an article or tool, its topic path is stored locally in your browser (localStorage). The last twelve visited topics are stored only when learning history is enabled; it is off for new visitors. An existing history preference is preserved. These lists contain no search terms, calculator values or timestamps and are not sent to the server. You can clear saved items and history separately. If storage is blocked, new entries last only until reload.
Selecting devices for comparison
The comparison tray stores up to three selected model identifiers in this tab’s session storage. The selection survives navigation and reloads and can be cleared at any time. There is no tracking identifier, analytics or cross-device synchronisation. Only when you open the comparison do the selected models appear in its link and get sent to this web server for display. If storage is blocked, the selection lasts only until reload.
Opening animation
The opening animation remembers only within this browser tab whether it has already been shown (sessionStorage). It stores a yes/no flag without an identifier or transmission to the server. It plays once per tab session. The animation is skipped when session storage is blocked or reduced motion is enabled.
Search
Search uses this website’s published content. Search terms appear in the page address and are sent to this web server to display results. Quick search also sends the text entered so far to this server after a brief typing pause, once it contains at least two characters. No external search service is used and no search profile is created.
Tools and troubleshooting
Shared tool links contain the selected calculation values. Troubleshooting stores the selected answer path in the page address, which is sent to the web server to display the next question. Copying and printing require your action. Do not include passwords or private details in these links.
Portal reachability
When you open a page with a portal reachability check, this web server automatically queries the three project websites. The check button lets you repeat the request. Your browser contacts only HB3YAQ.ch. Search terms, logbook data and browser identifiers are not forwarded to the portals; they see the web server’s connection. Results are cached briefly. The indicator confirms website reachability only, not receiver operation.
Live data and radio conditions
For the satellite section, this web server retrieves public orbital data from CelesTrak and caches it locally until the next update. New source requests are limited to one every two hours. Your browser receives only the three displayed satellites’ orbital data and calculates positions and passes for the centre of the public JN47db grid. No location permission, visitor identifier or private home coordinates are sent to CelesTrak, and satellite data is not stored persistently in the browser.
When you request live data, your browser contacts only this web server. The server queries the public BrandMeister device source and NOAA SWPC measurements. It does not forward visitor identifiers or logbook data. Sources see the web server’s connection. Results are cached briefly; only the network timestamp and retrieval information are returned from the BrandMeister record, excluding coordinates, network addresses and other callsigns.
Homepage weather and radio readings load once when visible; further requests use Refresh. Detailed NOAA readings and the hotspot network report load automatically when the Live page opens. Open-Meteo supplies weather model values for the centre of the public JN47db grid, not private home coordinates. Weather data is cached for 15 minutes. NOAA charts show public observations from the past 24 hours. No live readings are stored in your browser.
For the DMR display, the browser checks this server every five seconds while the section and tab are visible. The server monitors a BrandMeister event stream filtered to my DMR ID and additionally looks up my RadioID entry at most every 15 minutes. Only my callsign/ID mapping, session identifier, start/end, destination ID and timeslot are stored. No audio recordings, other stations’ names, locations or network addresses. Local activity history is retained until the operator deletes it; the latest 50 reports are displayed publicly. It is not a confirmed QSO log.
For D-STAR and NXDN, the browser loads the last known report from this server when visible or refreshed manually. The server checks D-StarUsers and the public FreeSTAR API at most every five minutes. Only reports for HB3YAQ or NXDN ID 12569, with timestamp and destination, are kept in memory. Other entries are discarded. No audio recording, browser persistence or automatic QSO import; the cache ends when the server restarts.
Public logbook
The public logbook uses selected, explicitly approved contact data: callsigns, UTC time, band, mode and, where available, four-character grids and confirmed QSL receipts. Private notes, names and addresses are excluded. The website reads a saved extract; your browser does not connect to private logbook administration.
External links
Facebook, Instagram, QRZ, RadioID, BrandMeister, Everix and other linked providers are external services. There are no embedded social feeds or pixels. Your browser connects to a provider only when you open its link; the provider then processes data including your IP address under its own privacy terms. Facebook, Instagram and Everix links suppress the referring page address. Equipment artwork, map assets and fonts are served locally.
Email contact
If you email me, I process your email address, message and other information you provide to respond to your request. The message is transmitted through the email providers involved. Please send only the data needed for your enquiry. I keep correspondence for as long as necessary to handle and document the request, subject to any statutory retention duties. You can contact me about deletion.
Hosting and responsibility
Ajdin Hadzic · ajdin@hb3yaq.ch
Everix IT-Solutions · Switzerland · Germany · France
Publication is planned with hosting by Everix IT-Solutions at the confirmed data locations in Switzerland, Germany and France. To serve pages, the web server processes connection data such as IP addresses, requested URLs and HTTP headers. Access and error logs support secure operation and troubleshooting. Log fields and deletion rules will be checked when production hosting is configured.
The public hosting retention policy is as follows: access and error logs are deleted within 7 days. Daily backups are retained for no more than 14 days from creation, then deleted or replaced by newer backups. Logs should be excluded from regular backups to preserve their shorter retention period. For a specific security incident, only extracts required to investigate it may be retained longer; they are deleted when the investigation ends, unless a statutory retention duty applies. These periods are the agreed policy; implementation will be checked with the hosting provider before publication. Local learning data and public radio data described here follow their separately stated retention periods.
Your data. Your contact.
You can request information about the processing of your personal data and correction of inaccurate information. Depending on applicable law and circumstances, you may also request deletion, restriction, object to processing or request a copy or transfer of your data. You can withdraw consent for future processing.
For these requests, contact ajdin@hb3yaq.ch. Please describe the data and processing concerned. If needed to identify the request safely, I will verify your identity with you. I cannot access or delete local learning data remotely; use the settings above for that.
