THE CALCULATION

Formula & context

f₀ = 1/(2π√LC); Zc = √(L/C)

At resonance, inductive and capacitive reactance magnitudes are equal. Whether the circuit presents low or high impedance depends on series or parallel connection.

A worked example

1 µH and 100 pF give approximately 15.915 MHz and a characteristic impedance of 100 Ω.

Then change exactly one value. Compare the result and use the formula to explain why it changes. The model limits below the calculator also apply here.
