See the signals.Understand reception.
What happens when you turn the receiver dial? Move the filter, choose a mode and watch which part of the signal passes through.
Explicitly simulated: every signal is a synthetic learning example. No live reception, real stations or audio demodulation.

Tuning means selecting.
The waterfall shows an entire frequency window. Your receiver processes only the selected part. AM places the carrier in the middle; USB and LSB use the upper or lower sideband beside the suppressed carrier.
Read the waterfall →As wide as necessary.
A filter that is too narrow removes wanted signal components. A filter that is too wide admits more noise and possibly neighbours. For the same white-noise density, halving bandwidth halves noise power: about −3 dB.
Calculate noise power →What the model explains.
We use ideal rectangular filters and simplified signal envelopes. The percentage describes covered frequency width, not speech quality or signal power. Real filter skirts, FM deviation, AGC, overload and propagation are not modelled. There is no absolute level calibration.
