TROUBLESHOOTING WORKSHOP

DMR stays silent?

Check channel, RF link and network separately — through a repeater or your own Pi-Star hotspot.

For DMR with AnyTone and Pi-Star. Obtain repeater parameters from its operator. Make short transmit tests only when authorised, on a permitted, clear frequency.

YOUR NEXT USEFUL TEST

Check destination and receive selection together

RF, network and call destination do different jobs. The right signal may arrive while receive selection excludes its audio.

  1. Open the channel actually selected: check TX contact/talkgroup and call type. The desired receive group must match the radio’s receive configuration; creating an RX list without assigning it does not help.
  2. On the network, check this talkgroup’s mapping to slot and access point. Static/dynamic rules depend on the network; do not assume a universal timeout or talkgroup number.

What to look for next

Compare again with the same station. Intelligible audio verifies more than displayed metadata.
