D-STAR

D-STAR is an amateur-radio system for digital voice and data. DV operation uses callsign fields and a selected destination; a gateway can connect repeaters to the network.

A concrete example

On the ID-52E PLUS, DR mode selects access under FROM and the destination under TO.

What to keep in mind

Reaching a local repeater does not guarantee a working gateway connection.
