THE CALCULATION

Formula & context

A = a · L / 100; Pout = Pin · 10^(−A/10)

Take attenuation at the intended frequency from the cable data sheet. This calculator scales it linearly with length and calculates remaining power.

A worked example

8.5 dB/100 m and 20 m give 1.7 dB. About 67.61 W remains from 100 W.

UNDERSTANDING THE MODEL

Assumptions & limits

Assumes a matched line. Connector loss, ageing, moisture and additional mismatch loss are excluded. 8.5 dB/100 m is an example, not a claim about a cable model.
