Variants and sources

Wider frequency ranges on international product pages describe other variants. The transmit range shown here follows the European amateur-radio version in the manual.

The firmware and activation keys on this individual unit have not been read out. Waterfall display is a separately paid upgrade, not a guaranteed part of EDNP. The manual’s HomePatrol database and ZIP-code functions apply to North America.

How to interpret the differences

BandwidthBandwidth is the width of a frequency range. A receiver filter limits the analysed range; the signal’s occupied bandwidth is a separate quantity.Example & full explanation →SDRIn a Software Defined Radio, software performs key signal-processing tasks such as filtering and demodulation. The analogue front end and converter still determine which signals can be processed.Example & full explanation →DMRDigital Mobile Radio is a family of digital radio standards. Only one station can speak intelligibly at a time.Example & full explanation →RepeaterA repeater receives signals and retransmits them. Many voice repeaters use different input and output frequencies; other stations are heard on the repeater output.Example & full explanation →

A wideband receiver and a handheld transceiver serve different purposes. A wider receive range does not automatically mean better sensitivity. Sensitivity depends on mode, measurement bandwidth and criterion, so this comparison does not create an overall ranking.

First check your required mode, then suitable antenna and accessory connections, and finally the power supply. A device’s transmit capability does not establish your personal permission to transmit.
