Ground plane

A simple ground-plane antenna consists of a vertical radiator and a conductive counterpoise, often radials. In the quarter-wave model, the radiator is approximately a quarter wavelength long.

A concrete example

In the calculator, radiator and radial lengths change with the entered frequency.

What to keep in mind

Radial angle and surroundings affect the feed impedance; the drawing does not replace tuning.
