Sample rate

Sample rate is the number of samples digitised per second. Together with filtering and the sampling method, it limits the usable frequency range.

Also found under: Abtastrate · Sample Rate · Sampling Rate · Samples

A concrete example

For real-valued low-pass sampling at 48 kS/s, the Nyquist limit is 24 kHz; practical filters also need a transition band.

What to keep in mind

Do not apply this low-pass rule unchanged to complex I/Q or bandpass sampling.
