AGC

Automatic Gain Control adjusts gain according to signal level, reducing differences between weak and strong signals at the output.

Also found under: Automatic Gain Control · Automatische Verstärkungsregelung

A concrete example

Slow recovery can make speech pauses quieter; a fast setting reacts sooner to level changes.

What to keep in mind

Audio AGC cannot repair overload that already occurred at the receiver input.
