AM

Amplitude modulation varies a carrier’s amplitude with the information signal. Conventional AM contains the carrier and two sidebands.

Also found under: Amplitudenmodulation · Amplitude Modulation

A concrete example

The SDR lab shows how an excessively narrow AM filter cuts into the sidebands.

What to keep in mind

A visible carrier alone does not establish whether the modulation is intelligible.
