Coaxial cable

Coaxial cable carries a signal using an inner conductor and a concentric outer conductor. The dielectric and construction determine characteristic impedance, losses and propagation speed.

A concrete example

For a given cable type, total loss rises with length; manufacturer loss figures refer to a particular frequency.

What to keep in mind

A physically compatible connector guarantees neither matching impedance nor low loss.
